RIPI specialists set out on another expedition to the Progress Antarctic station to carry out maintain and repair work on the equipment, deployed at the ROSCOSMOS State Corporation’s Antarctic ERS Regional Center, operated as part of the Integrated Geographically distributed ERS Information system (IGDERSIS), developed by the RIPI engineers.
Ivan Popov and Vladimir Pyshny joined the 68th Russian Antarctic Expedition (RAE): December 15, 2022, they embarked on the Akademik Fedorov Roshydromet scientific expedition vessel from the port of Cape Town, the Republic of South Africa. The vessel is expected to arrive to the Progress station premises in Antarctica in late December.
Under the programme of activities of the 68th RAE at the Progress station, Ivan Popov and Vladimir Pyshny will carry out maintenance; technical and designer inspection of the equipment of the ROSCOSMOS State Corporation’s Antarctic ERS Regional Center, operated as part of the IGDERSIS; as well as training for 68th RAE’s winter team on how to operate hardware/software assets of the Ground-based Complex for Acquisition, Processing and Distributing ERS data.
The returning of our colleagues is scheduled on May, 2023.
