A group, comprising young scientists and specialists from our Institute, participated at the Young Scientists Congress - 2024. That’s been the key event of the year within the Decade of Science and Technology, announced by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, aimed for strengthening the role of science and technology in addressing critical development challenges.

IV Young Scientists Congress-2024 (YSC-2024), organized by the Roscongress Fund, was held in Sochi on the territory of the Sirius Educational Center, in a settlement of federal significance. This year, the Congress brought together representatives from 62 countries and from more than 500 universities.

Representatives from the RIPI Council for Young Scientists and Specialists attended more than a dozen lectures and participated actively in all the events, carried out under the Congress program. The most urgent debate topics were: ”Comprehensive support for youth-led projects in microelectronics”; “Science as national pride”; “Scientists on screen: What will they look like tomorrow?”; “Cyberwars and information security: global challenges”; “Russian scientists: trends, problems and prospects”; “New trends in educational development”; “Scientists and entrepreneurs: working together to develop technologies demanded by the industry”; “Quantum challenges and prospects facing new challenges, addressed to young scientists”;” Working with best practices: current research”; “From theory to practice: universities and enterprises, cooperating to develop technologies”.

Dmitry Zhuravlev, chairman of the RIPI Council for Young Scientists and Specialists, head of the development of advanced information technologies for ground-based control complexes department, told to our journalist:

- Our Council members tried to get the most out of the Congress program: they participated in panel discussions and various interactive events, in poster sessions, listened to reports and presentations, visited scientific competitions and events at the stands of various exhibitors, including representatives of the BRICS countries, Russia’s entities, participating in the event; as well as the companies of Sber, Rosatom, Sibur and the Russian Science Foundation (RNF). We also participated in a scientific conference at the stand of the St. Petersburg ITMO University (Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics University), where young scientists from the institutes got to know each other. Interestingly enough, the presentations took place in a hard-timed format. Besides, along with other representatives of the Roscosmos State Corporation organizations we participated in the team-building game "Team of the Future". As part of the sport program of the Congress, we played a game of fast chess with Anna Zhurova, a Russian champion, for which we got an award in the form of a memorable medal. Our Council held a visiting session during the Congress. Summing up the YSC-2024, it may be said, that its main theme was application and promotion of an artificial intelligence in applied disciplines, in science, for example, in high-energy physics, and especially in related industries such as bioinformatics, biomorphic technologies, and neuromorphic computing.

Sergey Vasilyevich Chvarkov, Deputy Director General for Science, shared his impressions of this Congress:

-        A high-level scientific interactive forum always promotes the growth of the dynamics in mastering various competencies. This Congress was no exception, it became a platform where our Council members gained new knowledge, useful information; got new contacts. Together, all this undoubtedly motivates young people to continue their further self-improvement and further personal growth. No doubt, that the competencies acquired by our guys during the YSC-2024 will be applied in their professional activities for the benefit of our Institute. This event was also useful for young employees in terms of building horizontal sectoral and intersectoral linkages. Our company’s management has taken the view, that the established practice for participation of RIPI young scientists and specialists in similar events should be maintained.
