In his recent interview Vasily Fyodorovich described the latest changes in academic environment: “Despite all the well-known difficulties we have seen over past decades, the tendency to intensify scientific research activities and increase the number of specialists with scientific degrees is obvious. At present the Science and Technology and Dissertation Councils are functioning at the RIPI, as well as Holders of Doctoral (12) and PhD (more than 60) degrees are working here. On the eve of his ninetieth anniversary, the colleagues asked him many questions about longevity secret: “It’s hard to say, haven’t really thought about it: from being a boy and a cadet, I’ve always been unpretentious in food; almost the entire life I’ve been doing a little swimming. In recent times I became interested in Nordic walking, but still my main occupation remains the science. Probably, that's the whole secret of longevity”.
