RIPI specialists carried out the deployment of the Mobile Transmit/Receive Complex (MTPC) on the territory of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies (MES) of Russia in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), functional checkout, and preparations for operation during the next, the third season.
The extremely hot summer of 2021 proved to be a true challenge for emergency-rescue services throughout Russia. According to data of the Federal Forestry Agency’s remote sensing technologies-based Information system for forest fire detection and monitoring, an area of 9 million hectares was covered by fires in Yakutia last year.
The joint crews, composed of RIPI specialists and the personnel from the Chief Directorate of the MES of Russia for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), made the MTRC for round-the-clock satellite monitoring of the territories of the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts work in order to predict, prevent and eliminate emergency situations.
Since 2020, the operation of the MTRC in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has been carried out under the Agreement between the Roscosmos State Corporation and the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the field of space activities.
