The gold and silver medals of the XXVII Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies "Archimedes-2024" were awarded to the inventions, designed by our Institute's engineers.

The gold medal was awarded to the invention "Waveguide rotating joint", produced by a group of authors Lavretsky E.I., Prusov E.M. and Chernyshov V.S. from a RIPI division, focusing on developing information systems. This invention allows reducing the level of signal modulation, arising when the rotor rotates relative to the stator; the ohmic losses per pass; reducing voltage standing-wave ratio at the joint entrance; excluding resonances, "locking" rotating joints. In general, the waveguide rotating joint increases the efficiency of the radar station with a rotating antenna device.

The silver medal was awarded to a group of  specialists from RIPI division, focusing on designing the Ground-based Spacecraft Control Center (GSCC) Misko V.A., Simbirsky A.V. and Patrakhaev M.L. for “Software for Ground-based Spacecraft Control Center with  vulnerability remediation during all stages of the GSCC life cycle". The application of this project results enables the specialists to build the GSCC, complying with all the requirements set out in Russian National Standard related to developing secure software within the timelines required. The level of information security of automated systems that provide testing and operation of space hardware is increasing; also, the time for detecting and remediating software vulnerabilities is being reduced.

Standard manufacturing processes for secure software development, vulnerability remediation and certification have been established.

The results, findings, conclusions obtained are to be introduced to the GSCC for tracking and control over ERS spacecraft, such as Resurs-PM, Obzor-R and other similar promising satellites.

The inventions of specialists from the entire Russian Space Systems (RSS) holding were awarded eight gold and seven silver medals.

Vasily Sarantsev, Head of the RSS Patent/Licensing Service, told about his Service activities:

- The company’s patent portfolio today includes more than 350 inventions, which have got legal protection. We always select the most innovative of them for demonstration at the Archimedes Salon. In 2023, our Service completed an inventory of state contracts over the past 10 years. Following this inventory, more than a hundred inventions and intellectual assets were selected, for which the legal protection must be provided and they will be submitted as the most appropriate projects for the aerospace industry.”

The XXVII Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies “Archimedes-2024” brought together representatives of 272 organizations from 28 states and 30 regions of the Russian Federation, who demonstrated about 600 innovative projects and inventions to the scientific and technological community, 198 of which were submitted by foreign authors and patent holders.
