JSC RIPI will present several samples of its hi-technology products at the forthcoming 6th International Military-Technical Forum “ARMY-2020” that will be held at “Patriot” Expo, “Kubinka” Air Base and “Alabino” Military Training Grounds, from 23 to 28 August, 2020.

The mock-ups of the “Compact-4” air quad-band synthetic aperture radar (two bands (CR-3-4-SAR) (1:1 scale), mobile receiving/transmitting complex (MRTC) for the data perception from national economy remote sensing satellites (1:25 scale) and active antenna module for spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (AAM) (1:36 scale) will be presented at the exhibition facilities of the “Roscosmos” State Corporation in an exposition booth of the “Russian Space Systems” holding company.

Victor Riman, Chief Project Designer of JSC RIPI:

- Currently, we are working on the “Kasatka-R” high-precision radar complex (HRRC), which will be the major instrumentation equipment for the “Obzor-R” ERS radar satellite developed by JSC “Progress” Rocket Space Center (Samara). We have completed manufacturing of all the radar equipment and started its testing alongside with debugging of spaceborne software products. During the year 2020, we are planning to deliver the product to “Progress” Rocket Space Center. The launch of the “Obzor-R” spacecraft is scheduled for 2021. The “Kasatka-R” radar performance characteristics allow to receive Earth’s surface images with a resolution up to 30 cm at any time of day or night and in any cloud conditions.

The onboard equipment of “Kasatka-R” radar is based on the X-band broadband polarimetric digital active phased antenna array (APAA) (operating at a wavelength of 3 cm).The “Kasatka-R” radar implements advanced digital beamforming antenna technology, which enables the radar to generate high-resolution image frames that are far larger than those obtained by conventional single-beam radars. At present, there are no such satellites in orbit.

The JSC RIPI will present a voltage-controlled oscillator using the LTCC technology and two multilayer ceramic microwave circuit boards for standard-size transceivers at “ARMY-2020”. One of them has a complicated geometry; its outline repeats the component area for a baseline support structure and demonstrates capabilities for LTCC production at RIPI. The both circuit boards are mounted in the units of advanced ground and spaceborne transceiving communications equipment.

There will be also presented a promising large-size multilayer ceramic printed circuit board (PCB) manufactured in accordance with LTCC technology for the equipment operating in a digital signal transmitting mode. The PCB size is of 150х150х2.4 mm. It is utilized in high-speed signal transmitting, receiving and processing devices operating within a microwave band, which is widely used in Space Device Engineering for advanced spacecraft manufacturing.

Valery Khodzhaev, Chief Process Engineer of JSC RIPI:

- The LTCC-technology is widely used in manufacturing of multilayer printed circuit boards for high-frequency electronic devices and chip packaging. This technology is the multilayer printed circuit boards made of textolite and high-temperature ceramics with special requirements to them.

The available LTCC manufacturing facilities of RIPI enable to produce 200 dm² of ceramic printed circuit boards per year.

The Forum visitors will be also managed to view the Mission Control Center hardware and software complex developed by RIPI, which includes two software systems: virtual cluster management, information and analytical support of spacecraft control.

This year “ARMY-2020” Forum is expected to be the most representative for all its history. There are already more than 1300 Russian and foreign participants, who have applied for it and will introduce over 27000 exhibits. Because of specific epidemiological conditions, Forum organizers announced “ARMY-2020” to be a free COVID-2019 territory. All participants and visitors of the Forum will be required to take mandatory non-contact temperature measurement when entering the facilities of the Forum (if the body temperature equals 37℃ or above visiting the Forum is prohibited), follow social distancing rules not less than 1,5 m within Forum territory and use means of personal protection (respirators). As a new initiative, all the visitors with invitations need to obtain QR-code in advance by registering on the Forum web-site www.rusarmyexpo.ru to enter the territory of the Forum.
