PURPOSE of the SYSTEM

The system is designed for mutual measurement of the motion parameters, that are needed to ensure automatic docking of spacecraft.

The system provides:

  • mutual search and detection of cooperated spacecraft
  • measuring parameters of spacecraft’s mutual motion:
    • range
    • radial velocity
    • orientation angles
    • bearing angles along two communications lines
    • basic angles for definition of mutual bank angle
    • angular coordinates of an “active” spacecraft in coordinates of a “passive” spacecraft
  • output of the measured data into the spacecraft control system

SYSTEM STRUCTURE

  • an interrogator - “Kurs-NA” - is mounted on the spacecraft performing the main rendezvous maneuvers
  • a transponder - “Kurs-MKP” - is mounted on the other spacecraft or an orbital station
