The system is designed for measuring the parameters of the spacecraft relative motion to ensure their automatic docking.

The system combines various meters, used for measurements of mutual range, radial and angular velocities, bearing angles, orientation, banking angles. Multi-parameter high-accuracy measurement systems make it possible to calculate spacecraft state vector and perform their automatic docking.

High reliability of the mutual measurement systems (MMS) has been confirmed during their operation. More than 300 dockings of spacecraft for various purposes have been performed in orbit using the MMS, developed and manufactured by the JSC “RIPI”. Today the mutual measurement system operates successfully under the ISS program, maintaining its operability and ensuring build-ups of new modules and structures.
