Launched on December 27, 2019 at 02:11:58 (Moscow time) from the Plesetsk (Arkhangelsk region) State Testing Cosmodrome, the “Rokot” rocket carrier successfully put the three “Gonets-M” communication satellites with the flight communication equipment “Sadko” (developed by the JSC “RI PI ” staff) into orbit.
The satellites are provided with stable and uninterrupted communication, the reception of telemetric data is carried out and the commands are transmitted from the central stations forming part of the “Gonets-D1M” multifunctional personal satellite communication system (MSPSC) ground control complex.
The successful launch allowed to achieve the established number of satellites forming the “Gonets” orbital constellation in four orbits including the spacecraft that reached the end of their service life. After a four year break, it was the first launch of “Gonets-M” satellite added to MSPSC “Gonets-D1M” orbital constellation. The launches were postponed due to lack of rocket carriers.
We should particularly note that during this period JSC “RI PI” manufactured ten sets of flight communications equipment designed to supplement “Gonets-D1M” MSPSC orbital constellation and supplied them to JSC “Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems” (ISS) – the general contractor under the project of “Gonets-D1M” MSPSC production in terms of the space segment.
JSC “RI PI” is the general contractor under the project of “Gonets-D1M” MSPSC production in terms of the communication segment, develops flight communication equipment “Sadko” for “Gonets-M” satellite, communication protocols, soft hardware for the regional and central stations, communications system control center (CSCC), “Gonets-D1M” MSPSC communication control center (CCC) and also subscriber terminals of various modifications. The “Gonets-D1M” orbital constellation is one of the most numerous satellite constellations after “GLONASS” system in Russian Federation. The multifunctional system for personal satellite communications and data transmission (MSPSC) provides very effective monitoring at low costs of subscribers services. The communications system control center (CSCC), “Gonets-D1M” MSPSC communication control center (CCC), one of the central stations (JSC “RI PI”) are deployed in Moscow at the moment. The other central station is deployed in Zheleznogorsk (JSC “Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems”). The regional stations operate in the capital of Russian Federation, Zheleznogorsk and Yuzhno-Sahalinsk.
“Gonets-D1M” is a domestic satellite communication system designed to provide data transmission and services for subscribers anywhere on the Globe. The major servicing area covers all Russia, Europe and the most part of Asia. Putting the three new “Gonets-M” satellites into operation will allow to enhance the system operating parameters such as, session-waiting time and data delivery time reduction.
